Student life

University life is about so much more than just studying. That’s why everything we do is geared towards giving you the best student experience possible. Working together with the University of Lincoln’s Students’ Union – an independent organisation run by elected officers on behalf of students at Lincoln – the University aims to offer an array of events, activities, and amenities designed to help you settle in to university life, meet friends, and make the most of your time with us. There are more than 120 clubs and societies to get involved in!

We also offer a range of help and support for both personal and academic matters to help you throughout your studies. When you start your academic journey with us, you will be assigned a Personal Tutor who will provide tailored academic guidance and support. You can also get expert advice from our other specialist support services, whether that's on health and wellbeing, financial or personal matters, or planning your future career.

What's it like to live in East Midlands?
Check out our region guide

The East Midlands comprises five counties, with its main cities being Derby, Leicester, Lincoln and Nottingham.

The region has plenty of history, boasting both the world’s first factory and its first pub (allegedly). It also has many castles, cathedrals and stately homes, including Chatsworth House, which has served as the backdrop to period films like Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice.

And, of course, you’ll find the gorgeous Peak District here. If you end up studying in the East Midlands, definitely make a trip to explore its rolling green hills, peatlands, and quaint market towns – like Buxton, the caverns of Castleton, and Bakewell (home of the famous tart).

Split into ancient Uphill and more contemporary Downhill – with an emphasis on the ‘hill’ bit – this small historical cathedral city has seen it all.

Campus and facilities

Our main Brayford Pool Campus is located in the heart of Lincoln next to the city's spectacular waterfront. The first building was opened by Queen Elizabeth II back in 1996 and we've invested around £400 million since in creating a vibrant, modern campus environment in which our students can thrive.

No matter which course you choose, we aim to provide you with high-quality facilities and the latest equipment. There are scientific laboratories, state-of the art clinical suites, workshops, specialist arts studios, a 450-seat theatre, galleries, advanced research facilities, lecture theatres, a sports centre and pitches, and a range of flexible study spaces. The campus also hosts the largest live music venue in the area, the Engine Shed, run by the students' union.

We have two satellite campuses too - our remarkable 200-hectare Riseholme Park Campus a few miles north of Lincoln, and our Holbeach Campus in the south of the county, home to the National Centre for Food Manufacturing.
