UCAS Discovery is an event where you can talk to universities, colleges, careers advisers, UCAS experts, employers, and apprenticeship providers all in one place. Perfect to help you decide the right path for you. Here’s how to get the most out of the day.
Meet your UCAS Discovery guide, Tom
Tom studied Geography at Swansea University. At UCAS Discovery, he spoke to almost every person there about different course options available in the subjects he liked, and asked loads of questions. There was one student that spoke who said, ‘If you study something that you love, you don’t feel like you’re studying it’, which was so inspirational he decided to study geography.

Tom's top tips for the day
Before the event
- Do some research into who’s there and who the subject you’re interested in. Pick at least 3 exhibitors you’re interested in speaking to when you get there
- Decide what questions you’d like to ask about the subject on the day. You’ll want to get insight into what modules are included, the teaching style etc.
- Look through our subject guides to see what studying that subject entails
During the event
- Head to the UCAS zone to pick up an event guide and Mission Card, so you know where everything is and have some starter questions for the experts
- Listen to a subject talk about the subject you’re interested in. This will give you a feel for the subject
- Explore the apprenticeship & employers zone – you might also be able to do an apprenticeship related to the subject you’re interested in
After the event
- Head to your UCAS Hub – it has everything you need to collate all your options after the event. Anyone who scanned your ticket will appear in your UCAS hub so you can start comparing
