Whether you're an existing Adviser Track user, or thinking about purchasing the tool – here’s some top tips to support you.

Adviser Track keeps you up-to-date with your students’ applications so you can give them appropriate advice. Accessed through Apply for advisers, and available each year from November, hundreds of teachers use the tool throughout the year, especially in the lead up to results day.

What you need to know

As part of your Adviser Track subscription you’ll also receive Applicant Status Reports (ASRs) and Final Destination Reports (FDRs).

  • ASRs are updated every Saturday and give a snapshot of your students’ applications to date. The last ASR before A level results are published, is available from Saturday 23 July – we advise you to download the report before 18 August.
  • FDRs are released towards the end of the cycle, on Monday 5 September 2016 and Monday 3 October 2016 this year. They replace the weekly ASRs. This is due to the high number of changes of applicant destinations during this time. This report is also accessed from Adviser Track through the Applicant Status Report section.
  • Adviser Track opens at 07:30 (UK time) on 18 August. Click the ‘Search for applicants’ option to track the status of your students’ applications. This will bring up a list of search options to narrow down students into their application status (see screenshot below). Please use the help text in Adviser Track (displayed when you click ‘?’) to identify what the status means e.g. 'Final place accepted' will show all applicants with an unconditional firm (UF) offer.

  • The data you see in Adviser Track on 18 August 2016 will contain decisions made by universities and colleges until 22:00 (UK time) on Wednesday 17 August. This potentially means those decisions made by universities and colleges after this time will not be shown on 18 August in Adviser Track. However, applicants can sign in to applicant Track to see ‘real-time’ data.
  • Track for applicants will go live at 08:00 (UK time) on 18 August.

Reporting just got easier

Following feedback, we’ve made a number of updates to the reports we provide to teachers and advisers throughout the year.

  • The Progression Report not only shows which university and subjects your students have progressed to, but also the offers they received.
  • The Competitors Report now features a summary of your key statistics, making it even easier to compare your centre’s destination data against other centres chosen by you – with a maximum comparison of 25 centres. Data includes subjects applied for, acceptances, and a breakdown of applicant characteristics – such as age, gender, ethnicity, and Tariff band.
  • The new Applicant Status Reports macro enables you to reformat, filter and sort your ASRs.
