What do I need to be aware of for GCSE results day 2017?

As you’ll probably already know, GCSEs are changing and some results out today will use the new grading system. The new grading system runs from 9 to 1 instead of A* to G, with 9 being the highest. English language, English literature, and maths are the first to change.

Ofqual has provided advice and guidance on why GCSEs are changing, and how the new grading structure correlates with the current grading structure. Here you’ll also find useful handouts and guides to use with your students and their parents.

What’s next for my students?

There are many options open to your students when they finish their GCSEs. They could choose to carry on studying the subjects which interest them most, take vocational qualifications, do an apprenticeship, or work/volunteer and study part-time.

To make sure they are aware of all their options, and know what they need to do to get there, direct them to ucas.com.
