Every year, hundreds of thousands of students, parents, and advisers visit ucas.com to apply to education, or support someone along the way.

We receive lots of feedback on how to make things better, and over the last few months we’ve carried out extensive testing with users to make improvements, which will go live on Monday 4 June.

These include:

  • a new-look homepage – we’ve carried out analysis of how students use ucas.com, and worked with them to give it a new look and feel, bringing the most visited information to the top, and to make it more student-focused
  • improved navigation – there will be a ‘breadcrumb trail’ on every content page, allowing you to navigate the site
  • revised menus – rather than left-hand menus, these will be at the top of each page
  • introducing quick links – there will be quick links at the top of key pages, signposting people to popular content. There will also be a ‘You might like to read’ section at the bottom of each student content page, to take people to related content

What do you need to know?

How to access ucas.com/advisers – to avoid students accidentally clicking on advisers’ content, we’ll be removing the ‘Advisers’ tab from the top of the website. There are a number of ways you can quickly access this content:

  1. Go to ucas.com/advisers – bookmark this page for easy access.
  2. On every page of the website within the footer, click on ‘Advisers’, and you’ll be sent straight to ucas.com/advisers.
  3. From the homepage, scroll down and click on the ‘Advisers’ box.

How to sign in to Apply for advisers – in addition to the links to Apply for advisers on ucas.com/advisers, you’ll also be able to sign in from the homepage. You’ll just need to click the ‘Sign in button’ on the top right hand corner of each screen, then advisers, and you’ll be taken to the sign in page.

How to give feedback – once the new site launches on the 5 June, there will be a ‘your feedback’ link on each page – we’ll take all feedback on board when making future updates. There will also be a ‘Was this page helpful?’ link on every content page, so you can provide one-click feedback on a specific page.

All the pages are still there – we haven’t removed any content from the site, we’ve just improved the navigation to make the content easier to access.

How students can sign in to Track – we’ve made this process much simpler. Students will just need to click the ‘Sign in button’ in the top right hand corner of each screen – they’ll then be taken to a page where they’ll be asked to select the scheme they’re applying for, and the link will appear.

What’s next?

As we’re working in an agile way, we’ll continue to make updates to the site to make it more user-focused, and improve our customers’ journeys. We’ll continue to tell you about changes in our newsletters.
