Earlier registration deadlines and test dates for admissions tests

Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing has confirmed the arrangements for its October/November 2022 admissions tests.  

The testing dates are determined to fit in with universities’ application processes, but they are earlier than previous years, reflecting a return to paper-based assessment. The BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) and Test of Mathematics for University Admission (TMUA) will take place on 18 October 2022, while University of Cambridge pre-registration assessments will be held on 19 October. University of Oxford admissions tests will be held on 2 November.

The registration period for all tests will be strictly from 1 September to 18:00 (UK time) on 30 September 2022. Unlike previous years, there is no opportunity for late entry in 2022. The removal of the late entry window this year reflects the earlier test dates.

The deadline for schools to apply to become a test centre for these admissions tests is 16 September 2022 at 12:00 (UK time).

The October/November 2022 admissions tests will solely comprise paper-based admissions tests taken at approved centres. The reversion to paper-based testing reflects a need to upgrade essential IT infrastructure and implement other changes to improve the resilience of on-screen assessments in 2023.

Key dates for 2022 admissions tests:

• 1 September 2022: Registration opens – test centres can register candidates from this date.
• 16 September 2022: Deadline for schools to apply to become a test centre (at 12:00 noon BST); deadline to apply for modified papers (e.g. enlarged print).
• 30 September 2022 at 18:00 (UK time): Registration closes; deadline to apply for access arrangements (e.g. extra time).
• 18 October 2022: Assessment date for BMAT and TMUA.
• 19 October 2022: Assessment date for University of Cambridge pre-registration assessments (ENGAA and NSAA).
• 2 November 2022: Assessment date for University of Oxford admissions tests.
